We were asked to clean the gutters on a house in West Sussex, working from the outside with our Sky Vac system. This lets us clear gutters from ground level, so there was no need for ladders against the walls or anyone up on the roof. We worked our way along each run of guttering, removing the built-up debris that had collected over time and checking as we went that everything was flowing as it should.

Flushing through the downpipes

Once the gutters themselves were clear, we flushed the downpipes through to make sure nothing was left sitting in them. Debris that has collected in a downpipe can quickly lead to water backing up, so it is worth checking properly rather than assuming the gutters are the only problem. After flushing, we water tested the whole system to confirm the water was draining away freely from the roof and down through the pipes.

Fixing the minor leaks we found

While we were working, we noticed a few very minor leaks. These were small enough that they could easily have been missed, but left alone they tend to get worse over time. We went the extra mile and fixed them while we were on site, so the customer was not left with a job to sort out later. It made sense to deal with them there and then rather than make a return visit.

Water tested and left tidy

Once the repairs were done, we water tested everything again to confirm the leaks were sorted and the water was running away as it should. The gutters and downpipes were left clear and free flowing, and we cleared up after ourselves before leaving. The customer was very happy with the work, and the property is now set up to handle the rain properly rather than letting water sit where it should not.
