Gutter repairs in Lindfield

We were called out to a property in Lindfield after the customer noticed a problem with their guttering. Water wasn't running away the way it should, and it was clear the issue needed looking at properly rather than just a quick clear-out. The customer asked us to take a look and sort out whatever was causing the trouble.

What we found on arrival

Once we were up at gutter height, we could see that a run of guttering along one side of the property had failed. The centre joins had gone, which was letting water escape instead of carrying it away to the downpipe. Rather than patching over the problem, we decided the sensible approach was to take the whole run down and start again.

Removing and rebuilding the run

We took the full length of guttering off that side of the house and replaced the centre joins before refitting it. Working this way meant we could check the fall and alignment as we went, so the water would flow correctly once it was back up. It's more work than a simple clearance, but it saves the customer having the same problem return a few months down the line.

Cleaning the other sides too

While we were on site, we also cleaned the guttering on two other sides of the property and cleared them out as part of the same visit. It made sense to deal with the whole property in one go rather than have the customer book us back in later. We cleared the debris, checked the downpipes were running free, and made sure everything was left tidy around the edges and walls before we packed up.

The finished result

With the failed run rebuilt and the other sides cleared, the guttering was carrying water away as it should. The customer was pleased we'd sorted the whole property in one visit rather than just the side that had failed. If your gutters are overflowing or you've spotted a leak at the joins, it's worth getting them looked at before the damage spreads to the fascia or the wall below.
